820's under the name Goyahkla which means "One Who Yawns." As a child he learned skills that would train him for hunting and raiding. Geronimo married and had three children. In 1858 his family was killed. In an act of revenge Geronimo led raiding parties during the 1850's and 1860's. On April 21, 1877 Geronimo and his band of renegades were captured by US Army soldiers and sent to the San Carlos Indian Reservation.
